Breakthrough Study in Horses Reinforces SMS Cell Therapy’s Platform Versatility

Our team recently completed clinical animal study using our human Small Mobile Stem (SMS) cell platform in horses suffering from tendon injuries—conditions that closely mirror human orthopedic challenges.

In collaboration with leading veterinarians, six horses with diverse orthopedic pathologies—including tendon tears, joint cartilage degeneration, and chronic lameness—were treated with our patented SMS cells.

The study demonstrated remarkable tendon repair, with evidence of restored tissue structure and function across multiple treated horses.

Our recent case summaries and veterinary evaluations reveal:

  • Significant recovery in severe joint and tendon injuries – Horses with conditions equivalent to human OCD (osteochondritis dissecans) and chronic tendonopathy experienced dramatic functional improvement and pain reduction.
  • Reduced medication dependence – Horses previously reliant on daily NSAIDs required little to none following treatment.
  • Enhanced healing and overall vitality – Post-treatment evaluations demonstrated visible tendon regeneration, improved balance, and restored exercise performance.

These results highlight the regenerative potential of SMS cells for musculoskeletal injuries, supporting not only future veterinary applications but also the broader translational promise of our platform for human tendon and orthopedic indications.

This successful study further strengthens our confidence in the versatility of the SMS technology and marks another important step in expanding our development pipeline.
